Is Text Marketing Appropriate for Your Business?
The quick answer is... Maybe. People are protective of their e-mail address, and even more protective of their phone number. However, people are using it more and more for identification for loyalty programs at home stores, drug stores, etc. People can be enticed to provide their phone number for an in-store promotion, and then you can reach back out to them periodically with special deals. We can review the potential with you and determine if would be an appropriate fit.

Family Restaurant
We were enticed by signs throughout a restaurant that we could receive a FREE cinnamon bun for texting a keyword to a certain number. We followed through with the text, and received a rather tasty cinnamon bun as a reward. After about a month we received a follow-up offering of 50% off our meal for "staff appreciation day" for school teachers and staff. We would need a school ID to take advantage, but it served to remind us that the restaurant had not forgotten us, and we might receive a different offer in the future that we could use.
Movie Theater
The movie theater offered a free popcorn in exchange for texting the keyword to their number. They followed up about two to three times per month with information about upcoming features, and contests for free tickets. They would often award "the first 5 people with the correct answer" to the question of the day. This served to engage the audience, and cost very little because only a handful of people received the free offer. The key behind any text marketing campaign is that it needs to be acted on immediately, or within 24 hours at most. This makes it very easy to measure the relative success of the marketing effort.
